What color are you now attracted to that you would not have used in the past? What have you changed your mind about that color?
Blush! I can't seem to get enough of this hue on painted walls, soft decor accents, silky frocks, chunky knits, and don't even get me started when you mix with metallics. Perhaps the soft hue had a sense of child-like innocence to me, but now, as an adult I am moved by the color's powerful feminine and soothing calmness.

I am having a renewed love affair with Mauve. That Dusty Lilac with a Rosy cast, quintessential to late 70's and early 80's interiors has recaptured my imagination. This faded Plum favorite feels fresh again, paired with rich Browns, Pearl and Charcoal Grays, and accenting Rosy Blush! Thumbing through vintage interior tomes reignited my interest in this neglected neutral. I want more Mauve!

Coral. I used to associate it with Palm Beach ladies dressed in Lily with either Coral lips or nails. Now, I find it so refreshing, mixed with Red, Camel, Baby Pink. Even the whole palette together is so yummy.

What color are you now attracted to that you would not have used in the past? What have you changed your mind about that color?
As a costume designer who is known for my use of color, there aren’t many colors I don’t like. I used to not use the color Red, because much like the little Black dress, the color Red to me was the easy color to choose because it was safe. But the new shades of Red are wonderful, going into the Orange and Coral tones - it is a great color to make a statement, and pairs with so many contrasting colors.

What color are you now attracted to that you would not have used in the past? What have you changed your mind about that color?
As a Costume Designer, my color choices are often predicated on what a character is feeling within a story/script. Working on two very different shows such as Shameless and Scandal means that I am always jumping from one world to another, and the characters in each show are so very different from one another. This being said, apparently this season I am all about Yellow. I am suddenly in love with anything from Lemon to a deep, deep almost Canary Yellow...this has nothing to do with feeling sunny, it is instead a sudden love of this color. I am not sure why I have changed but this change is reflected in the design of all of my work. As we move forward into Fall, I am already transitioning into Oranges and soft Browns, on both shows - it seems the natural evolution for me this year. After so many seasons of working with different tones of White and Grey this change in the color palette has been a wonderful journey. Next year will be another adventure.
