New TPG PANTONE FASHION HOME + INTERIORS

Color References Produced with the Environment in Mind

TPG (Textile Paper Green) Formulation Matches Global Standards for Sustainable Manufacturing Processes

CARLSTADT, N.J., September 29, 2015 – Pantone, an X-Rite company and the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, today announced a more ecologically responsible formulation of the PANTONE FASHION HOME + INTERIORS color references, now called PANTONE FASHION HOME + INTERIORS TPG (Textile Paper Green).

The TPG formulation will replace the PANTONE FASHION HOME + INTERIORS TPX (Textile Paper Extended Range) formulation, which was redesigned to match rising global standards for sustainable manufacturing processes. Both TPG products under the FASHION HOME + INTERIORS umbrella - the Color Guide and the Color Specifier & Color Guide - will be produced without lead chromates. The 2,100 colors included in these reference books are matched within extremely tight tolerances to the former TPX paper guides, upholding Pantone’s standards for color accuracy and continuing to be essential tools for designers.

“Pantone has always been an environmentally conscious company and a keen observer of trends in our industry,” remarked Mitchell Cole, Global Director of Marketing for PANTONE FASHION, HOME + INTERIORS. “The TPG formulations reiterate Pantone’s commitment to the environment as well as our customers and designers around the world who expect ecologically responsible products.”

In creating this new formulation Pantone met the European Union’s REACH regulations, which aims to eliminate the use of lead and lead compounds in any product that could reasonably be accessed by a child and ultimately reduce the amount of harmful lead chromates in the environment. As a globally recognized company, Pantone was inspired to implement higher standards across all markets.

Pantone is committed to sustainable practices and continues to implement practices such as utilizing recycling paper in the printing plant, recycling water in the textile dyehouse and using Oeko-Tex® approved dye formations in many of their colors. The 210 new color additions to the PANTONE FASHION HOME + INTERIORS textile color system released in August also use Hunstman AVITERA® SE dyes, which reduce energy usage during production by over 50%.

Additional products to be manufactured with the new TPG formulation include replacement pages for the Color Specifier & Color Guide book, and supplement pages with the 210 new colors, which will be available early in 2016.
